The Grace is in Bellwethers, in the Polluted Lands.

Description[]
The Grace has a hatchery, a greenhouse and bunkhouses.[1] There is also a canteen tent[2], and the beginnings of a schoolhouse.[3]
Notable Events[]
Carpenter's Arrival[]
Hayward brings Carpenter to the Grace after her experience with the Parish of Tide and Flesh. She speaks to both Paige and Hayward.[1]
The God Rocket Attack[]
The Grace is accidentally hit with a CLS god rocket. They lost eight disciples in the attack. Elgin announces that they should find a new place to live. Hayward and Carpenter leave to convert Shrue to their religion.[2]
Scuffle With The Parish of Tide and Flesh[]
Whilst Elgin's people were out scouting for a new location for the disciples of the Woundtree to move to they ran into the Parish of Tide and Flesh. Shots were fired, and when Harrier died the Woundtree took out his killer and four other followers of the Trawler-man, along with five more disciples of the Woundtree. A couple escaped on either side.[4]
A Growth In Followers[]
The size of the Grace has increased from 60 people to 500 people.[3]
Paige Meets The Maiden[]
Paige leaves the Grace to help Moss and his companions. She gets into a car-wreck and stumbles into a cave. Here she has her conversation with the Maiden before Elgin and Dan rescue her.[3]
Vote To Leave[]
Believing that Hayward and Carpenter are dead, Paige proposes that they leave the Grace and search for somewhere else out in the Polluted Lands. Her followers vote in favour of this decision.[5]
Abandoning The Grace[]
Before leaving, Paige creates three graves for her friends who left and never came back - Hayward, Carpenter and Shrue. She writes "Dennis Duplass helped" on the wall of her living room in chalk. Elgin makes sure that they wait for Hayward for as long as they can.
As they walk west, towards the heart of the Polluted Lands, Hayward arrives back at the Grace. He is relieved to find Paige and his followers have already left. He speaks to Paige one last time before the radio cuts out from the radio tower. He tries to keep the helicopters attention on him, and Val unknown to him helps prevent the Children of the Woundtree from being attacked. He dies alone, but satisfied with the knowledge that Paige has escaped and that his death is for nobody and nothing but himself.[6]
